  2007 Estes Park Film Festival

The Estes Park Film Festival concluded on September 16th with the hilarious romantic comedy “Life with Fiona” winning both Best Feature and Audience Award.  With nods to “The 40 Year Old Virgin”, “There’s Something about Mary”, “Annie Hall” and “The Office” among others, “Life With Fiona” is noteworthy not only for its unique blend of humor and heart, but also for the sheer number of up-and-coming actors, comedians and musicians involved in the project. Shannan Keenan’s poignant film “Trail End” starring Emmy nominated actor Barry Corbin took home the Best Short Film Award and Audience Award for a Short Film while Christopher Metzler’s “Plagues & Pleasures on the Salton Sea” won Best Documentary.  Best Director went to Joe D’Augustine for his directorial debut in the dark comedy “One Night with You” starring Michael Parks and Mark Boone Junior.

Showcasing over 50 independent films from around the world, the 2nd Annual Estes Park Film Festival took place September 14-16 at the Historic Park Theatre in downtown Estes Park, Colorado.  Built in 1913, the Park Theatre is one of the oldest movie theatres still operating in America.  In addition to the Park Theatre, suspense and horror films screened at the Historic Stanley Hotel, which is famous for its inspirational role in Stephen King's book & film, "The Shining".  Student films also screened at the Lake Shore Lodge as part of the festival’s Student Filmmaker Showcase.
Festival attendees and filmmakers from as far away as New Zealand traveled to Estes Park to enjoy the films, parties, and awards gala at the 2nd annual event.  Organizers are already planning for next year’s festival which will take place September 11-14, 2008 at the Historic Park Theatre.
